WPClientHub vs. MainWP
The self-hosted, flat-unlimited option — and the one that genuinely beats us on price. Owned by MainWP LLC (independent).
MainWP is the honest winner on raw price for a technical agency willing to self-host: $29/mo (or $199/yr) for an unlimited number of sites beats every one of our tiers once you’re past a handful of sites, full stop. You are trading that price for running the dashboard yourself and sourcing your own backup and security add-ons.
Where MainWP genuinely wins
- A larger, technical agency happy to self-host the management dashboard on its own server — past our first tier (11+ sites), MainWP’s flat $29/mo (or $199/yr) is cheaper than every one of our tiers, including our $199/mo Scale tier at 150 sites. Below 11 sites our $29 Studio tier ties MainWP’s monthly price exactly.
- Anyone who wants to run the dashboard itself, on infrastructure it controls, rather than a vendor’s hosted app — a genuinely different ownership model than ours, not just a price difference.
- A budget-constrained shop that can live with a free tier plus its own hosting cost, since MainWP’s Essentials tier is $0 forever, unlimited sites.
What each product actually ships
Every WPClientHub row here is live today and priced on our pricing page — nothing on this list is a roadmap item. Competitor rows are sourced to MainWP’s own pricing page and public documentation; where we couldn’t verify a capability, we say so instead of guessing.
| WPClientHub | MainWP | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Flat: Free / Studio $29 / Agency $79 / Scale $199, by site count | Flat, unlimited sites: Free (Essentials) / $29/mo / $199/yr / $599 lifetime |
| Where it runs | Hosted by us — you sign in at app.wpclienthub.com, nothing to install beyond the site connector | Self-hosted — MainWP runs as a WordPress install on a server you provide and maintain |
| Cost at scale (25+ sites) | $79–$199/mo depending on site count | $29/mo (or $199/yr) flat, regardless of site count — the cheapest option in this whole comparison |
| Where backups live | On the client’s own server first, then storage you own — included on every tier, nothing to configure beyond picking a bucket | Not included by default — MainWP’s own docs describe backups as something you configure through add-ons and your own storage/licensing |
| AI Visibility (AI-crawler checks + what ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity say about the business) | Included on every tier, including Free | Not offered |
| Add-on ecosystem | Fifteen built-in modules, no separate add-on marketplace | 30+ pro add-ons on the paid tier, an established third-party plugin ecosystem |
| Help desk & client portal | Included on every tier, magic-link sign-in, no per-client charge | Not found in MainWP’s published feature list |
| Client billing, 0% platform fee | Included on every tier — your own Stripe or direct invoicing | Not found in MainWP’s published feature list |
| Ongoing maintenance burden | None — we run and patch the dashboard | You patch, back up and secure the MainWP install itself, on top of your client sites |
Cost at 10, 25, 50 and 100 sites
A full year, using each vendor’s own published rate for the closest like-for-like feature set. The green cell wins at that site count — neither column wins at every row, and that’s the point.
| WPClientHub | MainWP | |
|---|---|---|
| 10 sites | $348/yr ($29/mo) | $348/yr ($29/mo) |
| 25 sites | $948/yr ($79/mo) | $348/yr ($29/mo) |
| 50 sites | $2,388/yr ($199/mo) | $348/yr ($29/mo) |

- WPClientHub — wpclienthub.com/pricing.htmlFlat, published tiers — Free (3 sites), Studio $29/mo (10), Agency $79/mo (40), Scale $199/mo (150). No plan published above 150 sites.
- MainWP — mainwp.com/pricing/Pro: $29/mo, billed monthly, unlimited sites — used as the headline figure below since it is directly comparable to every other vendor's published monthly rate. Paid annually it is $199/yr (about $16.58/mo) — genuinely the cheapest option anywhere in this comparison for a self-hosting agency, and we say so on every MainWP page.
What moving from MainWP actually involves
- Run both in parallel. Install our connector plugin alongside MainWP — nothing about connecting a site requires removing your existing tool first, and you can keep it running for as long as you want a second opinion.
- Connect each site. Paste a one-time pairing code from the WPClientHub dashboard; that mints a per-site key pair and starts scoring the site within a minute. No WordPress passwords are stored.
- Backups start fresh, on purpose. We don’t import MainWP’s historical backup archives — your first WPClientHub restore point is taken on the client’s own server as soon as the site connects, and whatever MainWP already stored stays exactly where it is, untouched.
- Recreate schedules and routes by hand. Report schedules, client contacts and notification routes are a one-time setup cost we won’t pretend away — there’s no automatic import for those yet.
- Cut over on your own clock. Once every site is connected and you’ve seen a clean scan, cancel or downgrade MainWP whenever you’re ready. There’s no forced cutover date.
If you stay self-hosted, nothing here asks you to give that up for anything except the management layer — you can keep your existing backup and security stack running exactly as it is while you try us.
