WPClientHub vs. WP Umbrella
The per-site metered tool with the reports agencies say their clients actually read. Owned by WP Umbrella SAS (independent).
WP Umbrella is the right call for a small, stable portfolio that wants to pay for exactly the sites it manages and nothing more, and its client-facing reports have a real reputation — reviewers specifically call them out as the best feature. It genuinely costs less than us below 14 sites.
Where WP Umbrella genuinely wins
- A freelancer or small studio under about 14 sites, where true per-site metering costs less than our flat $29 Studio tier.
- An agency that wants to add or drop a single site mid-month with prorated billing rather than jumping a tier.
- Anyone who has read the reviews and specifically wants WP Umbrella’s client report formatting — it’s named repeatedly as their strongest feature.
What each product actually ships
Every WPClientHub row here is live today and priced on our pricing page — nothing on this list is a roadmap item. Competitor rows are sourced to WP Umbrella’s own pricing page and public documentation; where we couldn’t verify a capability, we say so instead of guessing.
| WPClientHub | WP Umbrella | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Flat: Free / Studio $29 / Agency $79 / Scale $199, by site count | True per-site metering, $2.19/site/mo (€1.99), no minimum |
| Cost at low site counts (under ~14 sites) | Same $29/mo from your first site up to 10 | Cheaper than us below ~14 sites — see the worked numbers below |
| Where backups live | On the client’s own server first, then storage you own — we never hold the archive | Backups add-on, $2.49/site/mo, stored on WP Umbrella’s infrastructure (EU-based, per their marketing) |
| AI Visibility (AI-crawler checks + what ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity say about the business) | Included on every tier, including Free | Not offered |
| Free tier | Up to 3 sites, forever, every module included | No ongoing free tier — a 14-day trial, no card required |
| Client reports | Branded, scheduled PDFs on any cadence from Studio up | Bundled in the base price; reviewers rate this as WP Umbrella’s standout feature |
| Security scanning | Included on every tier | Add-on, $2/site/mo |
| Help desk & client portal | Included on every tier, magic-link sign-in, no per-client charge | Not found in WP Umbrella’s published feature list |
| Client billing, 0% platform fee | Included on every tier — your own Stripe or direct invoicing | Not found in WP Umbrella’s published feature list |
| Cost as you scale past ~14 sites | Flat — your bill does not grow with your site count within a tier | Grows linearly — per-site pricing scales with every site you add, with no unlimited ceiling |
Cost at 10, 25, 50 and 100 sites
A full year, using each vendor’s own published rate for the closest like-for-like feature set. The green cell wins at that site count — neither column wins at every row, and that’s the point.

- WPClientHub — wpclienthub.com/pricing.htmlFlat, published tiers — Free (3 sites), Studio $29/mo (10), Agency $79/mo (40), Scale $199/mo (150). No plan published above 150 sites.
- WP Umbrella — wp-umbrella.com/pricing/True per-site metering — €1.99/site/month (about $2.19 at the exchange rate quoted on their own pricing page), no minimum, no tiers. We use the USD figure throughout; your actual EUR-billed cost may vary slightly with the exchange rate on the day you're billed.
What moving from WP Umbrella actually involves
- Run both in parallel. Install our connector plugin alongside WP Umbrella — nothing about connecting a site requires removing your existing tool first, and you can keep it running for as long as you want a second opinion.
- Connect each site. Paste a one-time pairing code from the WPClientHub dashboard; that mints a per-site key pair and starts scoring the site within a minute. No WordPress passwords are stored.
- Backups start fresh, on purpose. We don’t import WP Umbrella’s historical backup archives — your first WPClientHub restore point is taken on the client’s own server as soon as the site connects, and whatever WP Umbrella already stored stays exactly where it is, untouched.
- Recreate schedules and routes by hand. Report schedules, client contacts and notification routes are a one-time setup cost we won’t pretend away — there’s no automatic import for those yet.
- Cut over on your own clock. Once every site is connected and you’ve seen a clean scan, cancel or downgrade WP Umbrella whenever you’re ready. There’s no forced cutover date.
WP Umbrella users switching in the other direction cite update and backup reliability issues in their own reviews — read the G2 reviews for both tools before you move either way, not just ours.
