WPClientHub vs. WPMU DEV
The bundle with a full premium plugin suite and a hosting credit baked in. Owned by Incsub.
WPMU DEV is the right call for an agency that wants a full suite of premium WordPress plugins (SmartCrawl, Hummingbird, Defender, Smush and more), white-label reseller billing, and a hosting credit bundled into one subscription — that bundle is real, extra value we don’t offer, and at unlimited scale their $100/mo flat undercuts our $199/mo Scale tier.
Where WPMU DEV genuinely wins
- An agency that wants premium plugins (SEO, performance, security, image optimization) bundled with site management rather than sourced separately — and values that ecosystem over our fifteen built-in modules.
- A shop that wants a $144/yr hosting credit folded into the subscription price.
- An agency at very large, effectively unlimited scale — their $100/mo flat Premium tier is cheaper than our $199/mo Scale tier once you’re past what Scale’s 150-site limit covers, though you’d need to confirm that fits your actual site count against both companies’ current terms.
What each product actually ships
Every WPClientHub row here is live today and priced on our pricing page — nothing on this list is a roadmap item. Competitor rows are sourced to WPMU DEV’s own pricing page and public documentation; where we couldn’t verify a capability, we say so instead of guessing.
| WPClientHub | WPMU DEV | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Flat: Free / Studio $29 / Agency $79 / Scale $199, by site count | Tiered flat, by site cap: $15 (1 site) / $25 (3) / $50 (10) / $100/mo (unlimited) |
| Cost at unlimited scale | $199/mo, capped at 150 sites — no published plan above that | $100/mo flat, unlimited sites — cheaper than our top tier if your portfolio fits |
| Cost for a single site | $0 (Free, up to 3 sites, every module included) | $15/mo (Basic, 1 site) — no ongoing free tier |
| Bundled premium plugins | Not part of what we sell — we’re a management layer, not a plugin bundle | Full Pro Plugin suite included (SmartCrawl, Hummingbird, Defender, Smush and others) |
| Hosting credit | None — we don’t sell or resell hosting, on purpose | $144/yr hosting credit included |
| Where backups live | On the client’s own server first, then storage you own — we never hold the archive | Backup storage bundled and scaled by tier, held on WPMU DEV’s infrastructure |
| AI Visibility (AI-crawler checks + what ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity say about the business) | Included on every tier, including Free | Not offered |
| Help desk & client portal | Included on every tier, magic-link sign-in, no per-client charge | Not found in WPMU DEV’s published feature list |
| Client billing, 0% platform fee | Included on every tier — your own Stripe or direct invoicing | White-label billing / reseller capability included, per their pricing page — terms not independently verified |
Cost at 10, 25, 50 and 100 sites
A full year, using each vendor’s own published rate for the closest like-for-like feature set. The green cell wins at that site count — neither column wins at every row, and that’s the point.
| WPClientHub | WPMU DEV | |
|---|---|---|
| 10 sites | $348/yr ($29/mo) | $600/yr ($50/mo) |
| 25 sites | $948/yr ($79/mo) | $1,200/yr ($100/mo) |
| 50 sites | $2,388/yr ($199/mo) | $1,200/yr ($100/mo) |
| 100 sites | $2,388/yr ($199/mo) | $1,200/yr ($100/mo) |

- WPClientHub — wpclienthub.com/pricing.htmlFlat, published tiers — Free (3 sites), Studio $29/mo (10), Agency $79/mo (40), Scale $199/mo (150). No plan published above 150 sites.
- WPMU DEV — wpmudev.com/pricing/Regular (non-promotional) price, billed annually: Basic $15/mo (1 site), Standard $25/mo (3), Plus $50/mo (10), Premium $100/mo (unlimited). Their pricing page was showing a time-limited Black Friday discount when we checked (as low as $15/mo for the unlimited tier for the first year) — we quote the regular renewal price here, not the promo, because the promo is not what you will pay in year two.
What moving from WPMU DEV actually involves
- Run both in parallel. Install our connector plugin alongside WPMU DEV — nothing about connecting a site requires removing your existing tool first, and you can keep it running for as long as you want a second opinion.
- Connect each site. Paste a one-time pairing code from the WPClientHub dashboard; that mints a per-site key pair and starts scoring the site within a minute. No WordPress passwords are stored.
- Backups start fresh, on purpose. We don’t import WPMU DEV’s historical backup archives — your first WPClientHub restore point is taken on the client’s own server as soon as the site connects, and whatever WPMU DEV already stored stays exactly where it is, untouched.
- Recreate schedules and routes by hand. Report schedules, client contacts and notification routes are a one-time setup cost we won’t pretend away — there’s no automatic import for those yet.
- Cut over on your own clock. Once every site is connected and you’ve seen a clean scan, cancel or downgrade WPMU DEV whenever you’re ready. There’s no forced cutover date.
Their pricing page was showing a time-limited "Black Friday" promotional price when we checked — the numbers above are the regular renewal price, not the promo, because the promo is not what you’ll pay in year two. Check their current page before you decide.
